Anthony Charles Conley, Sr.
Pastor Anthony Charles Conley, Sr. is an Ordained Minister, currently serving as the Pastor of Antioch Baptist Church, Waukegan, Illinois since 2007. His journey began in 1990 as he was baptized at Christian Valley Missionary Baptist Church, where he is still a member to this day. Ordained as a Deacon in 1991, he served on the Deacon Board for three years before being ordained as a Minister of the Gospel at Christian Valley MBC in 1994. He taught Sunday School for both adults and youth, as well as Vacation Bible School and Senior Mission classes, and served as the Director of the Christian Valley MBC Youth Ministry from 2002 to 2006. An active member of North Shore Baptist Ministers Alliance since 1994, he was formerly the Second Vice-President under the administration of Pastor John A. McBride, and also represented the NSBMA as liaison to the Waukegan Township Staben Center: a homeless shelter now known as the Eddie Washington Center, where he taught Sunday Morning Bible Study and facilitated a weekly therapeutic men’s group called “MAN to MAN.” Pastor Conley currently serves as General Secretary for the Lake Shore Baptist District Congress of Christian Education and currently serves as Volunteer Chaplain for the Vista Healthcare System. He has been a Member of National Baptist Convention since 1994.
Pastor Conley attended McKinley Theological Seminary, North Shore Branch, in the Bachelor of Theology program under the leadership of Dr. B.J. Gaston, and holds a Doctor of Divinity (Hon.) from the International Open Arms Bible College and Seminary. He continues his lifelong studies by attending annual Ministers’ Pastoral Training seminars and workshops offered through the National Baptist Convention.
A current member of the Advisory Board for the Eddie Washington Center in Waukegan Township, some of his charity work includes serving as Chairman of the faith-based sub-committee for the Waukegan Township 2007 Golf Outing fund-raiser, as well as successfully chairing the 2011 Martin Luther King 33rd annual celebration.
With over thirty-five years of experience in social service and special education, he recently retired from the non-profit Allendale Association after twenty-nine years of dedicated service. A decorated veteran of the Viet Nam war, he served in the United States army infantry division for several years, and some of his awards include a National Defense Service Medal, a device 60 Vietnam Service Medal, a Vietnam Combat Medal with three bronze stars, two Overseas Service Bars and a Combat Infantry Badge. Still living in his hometown of Waukegan Illinois, he is a devoted husband of forty-four years to the lovely Mrs. Carolyn M. Conley.
