Mothers’ Ministry
The Mothers’ Board, as it is affectionately referred to, includes the seasoned women of the church who have been saved for many years and are able to impart wisdom and prayer to the younger generation. Any woman who desires to become a member of the Mothers’ Board must be an active member of Antioch Baptist Church and appointed by the pastor.
The ministerial liaison for the Mothers’ Board will be an Associate Minister designated by the Pastor.
The foundation of the Mothers’ Ministry is built on Titus 2:1-5:
"But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience...
- The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becomes holiness;
- Not false accusers;
- Not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
- That they may teach the young women to be sober;
- To love their husbands and to love their children;
- To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."
The Mothers’ Ministry teaches and supports the Pastor and the church. They help build every auxiliary of the church. They also do other assignments as requested when there is a need.
The members of the Mothers’ Ministry shall meet on a regular basis (monthly), and shall be responsible for the following:
- Pray for the Pastor, Ministerial, Leadership Team, and the entire congregation;
2. Set up all the necessary Lord’s Supper equipment and materials prior to each observance of the ordinance. Arrange for all Lord’s Supper equipment to be gathered, cleaned and stored after the observance. Maintain an inventory at all times, recommend the purchase of additional Lord's Supper equipment, and communicate this information to the Associate Minister and/or Deacon in charge;
3. The Mothers’ Board will dress in white (or other colors as designated) on first Sunday and are requested to also wear white when accompanying the pastor on preaching engagements to other churches; and
4. Provide support to the sick and shut-in, those in nursing home facilities, and families grieving the lost of loved ones.
In addition, the Board will nominate and elect officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer) to facilitate the achievement of these tasks. The terms shall be in accordance with the Churches rules and regulations.
